BENJAMIN STEAKHOUSE / Kyoto
BENJAMIN STEAKHOUSE KYOTO opened on December 26, 2018, as the brand’s second location in Japan, following its Roppongi restaurant.
Based on the theme “EAST MEETS WEST,” the design combines the distinctive, sophisticated atmosphere of the original New York steakhouse with elements of Japanese aesthetics, creating a space that feels both refined and warm.
Making use of the existing two-story wooden structure, we introduced a new atrium that opens up the interior vertically. A bar counter welcomes guests at the entrance, alongside an approximately eight-meter-high wine cellar extending across three levels. Together, these elements create a dramatic sense of scale while maintaining a distinctly Japanese character.
PICO INNOVATE was responsible for the overall direction, design, and cost control of the project. Our scope included design coordination with the New York headquarters, adapting the steakhouse’s specialized equipment requirements to comply with Japanese regulations, and managing the schedules for Category A, B & C construction works. Working closely with specialist partners across each discipline, we coordinated the project from design development through completion.
